Sequoia Communications’ Anna Kochka Named Best HR Executive Finalist in 2008 Stevie Awards

American Business Awards acknowledges leading RF semiconductor company’s dedication to continued development of HR programs

SAN DIEGO – May 28, 2008 –Sequoia Communications, the RF semiconductor company setting new benchmarks in multimode design and integration, today announced that Anna Kochka, director of human resources, has been named a finalist in the Best Human Resources Executive category by the American Business AwardsSM, also known as the Stevie® Awards. Since joining the RF semiconductor startup in 2006, Kochka has focused on advancing Sequoia Communications’ goal of creating a high performance culture where employees hone their skills and enjoy a friendly yet technically challenging work environment.

This year, more than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes, and in nearly every industry, were submitted for 40 Stevie award categories. Anna Kochka is one of seven finalists in the Best Human Resources Executive category along with HR executives from Accenture, CareerBuilder and The Bank of New York Mellon. Winners will be selected by members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs, and will be announced in New York City on June 12, 2008 during the annual awards ceremony.

“I am honored to be recognized by this prestigious organization along with the other excellent professionals in my category,” said Kochka. “Over the past 20 years of my career in HR, I have come to believe that the right company culture resolves many employee relations issues, while also creating a competitive advantage where organizational energy is focused on innovation.”

During her time at Sequoia Communications, Kochka has focused on revamping the performance management system by enhancing its career development and employee feedback components, as well as reporting methodology. She also had a leadership role in defining the company’s official mission and values statements and building the employment brand. In February 2008, the company participated in a five-month evaluation process of its HR practices and was ultimately named a winner in the Employers Group 2007 “California’s Best Places to Work” Program in the Growing-size Companies category. Winners were determined largely via anonymous employee surveys of more than 90 percent of the workforce, as well as 400+ question survey regarding the company’s HR policies. Sequoia Communications’ results were remarkable – 100 percent of employees surveyed were satisfied with their pay and more than 90 percent trust management and would recommend the company to friends as an employer.

“Anna is a champion for her coworkers and an advocate for the leadership team,” said Dave Shepard, CEO of Sequoia Communications. “We are very fortunate to have her expertise and commitment, as evidenced by an exceptional work environment, which has been conducive to continued technological advancements in RF design.”

Sequoia Communications offers the industry’s first single-chip, seven-band RF multimode transceiver that supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE/ WCDMA/HSPA and TD-SCDMA.
